At the change of Winter to Spring and Summer to Fall every year, it reminds me of the scent of Six Flags, St. Louis, where I worked for 5 seasons.
It's a bitter-sweet feeling.
Why? It reminds me of a place where I met so many of my great friends, not to mention, my best friend, Sarah. However, as the seasons passed, my time there drew less exciting. The park changed ownership a few times and the quality of service and management went WAY down. By the time 1999 came around, I was ready to leave. It really wasn't very much fun to work there anymore.
I've talked with many of my friends who worked at Six Flags with me who have similar sentiments. I also have friends who still work there. : )
It's a wonderfully fun and exciting time in my life to remember.
To be quite honest, when I think about it, almost all of my friends that I still talk to and hang out with are from Six Flags. : )
By the way, it's important to mention that on June 6th this year, Sarah and I will celebrate our 10 year anniversary of the day we met. We met in our Six Flags orientation class and she's been my best friend ever since.
I guess I need to start shopping for something tin, aluminum, or diamond. According to this website http://www.wam.umd.edu/~sek/wedding/anniversaries2.html that's what you give at the 10 year mark.
Here are two nostalgic photos of us. Ten years ago, I had long brown hair and Sarah had bangs! : ) I wonder what we'll think of ourselves in ten more years! : )
Posted by Catteron at April 7, 2004 02:14 PMWe're like a fine wine, we only get better with age (assuming of course I never have bangs again!)! The past ten years have been the best 10 years of my life - thanks to you of course!! So tin, aluminum or diamonds...hmmm, that's a hard choice (diamonds, diamonds, diamonds)! Too bad we're not filthy rich and diamonds could be an actual option - perhaps in another 10 years! I'm so excited, we still need to plan something for our anniversary, perhaps not a trip this year (baby, wedding, just a few other things going on), but we still need to do something...maybe we should go to Six Flags for the day??? Anyway, thanks for the flashback and for being the best friend I've ever had (although perhaps next time if I could approve the photos of me that would be great...bangs, what in the world was I thinking????).
love,
sarah
