Oh, and also, GO CARDINALS!!!

See Ya, Textamerica! Hello, Flickr!

(Warning: Nerdy Tech Talk Ahead.)

As, most of you know, I keep a Moblog - which is a collection of images that I take with my camera phone. It's a visual diary of sorts. If you haven't checked it out, click on one of the pictures in the top left corner on my blog's home page and take a gander. It's pretty fun to keep this up and look back on. I have taken over 1,500 images in the past three years!

I received this (stupid) email yesterday from the (dumb) website that I was using for my Moblog. Here is an excerpt from the (wrong marketing move) email that I received:

"As announced on 8/1/2006, Textamerica offers three different membership options with the following storage restrictions.

1. TA Freebee ($0.00)
1 moblog
50 images/videos

2. TA Basic ($24.00) per year
Up to 3 moblogs
450 images/videos

3. TA Premium ($99.00) per year
Up to 5 moblogs
5000 images/videos

As a Freebee membership holder, your moblog is in excess of the allowed storage limit. You have 7 days to limit your moblog images/videos to the allowed storage or upgrade to the TA Premium membership to maintain your current storage capacity. Any moblog that continues on a TA Freebee membership with over 50 images/videos after 11/2/06 is subject to deletion."

Dummies. Seriously, for $24 a year, I could buy enough space to house only 1/3 of my images, or I could move to Flickr, have 2 GB monthly upload limit, Unlimited storage, Unlimited bandwidth, Unlimited photosets, Permanent archiving of high-resolution original images, and an ungodly amount of FREE 3rd party apps to help out with it all.

So, I moved to Flickr. It was a no brainer. Most of my images are somewhat in order, but a few are WAY out of order. I'll try to get that all organized soon.

Bad move, Textamerica. I'm sorry to leave you. Flickr has you beat for sure!

GO CARDINALS!!!!!!!

p.s. After I received that email, I did a search on Google for "Textamerica Sucks" and I was surprised at the few items that appeared. Let's see if this post gets added. : )

World Champs!

On Friday evening, as the last three pitches of the World Series were being pitched, Isaac fell asleep in my arms. I have never tried so hard to contain my excitement.

About a minute after the Cardinals won, I told Bryan to pause the TV (spoiled? yes.) and I took Isaac upstairs to his bed. When I came back downstairs, I jumped up and down about a hundred times. (Can I tell you how hard it is to cheer and be estatic when you have a sleeping toddler upstairs?)

Bryan said to me, "I didn't realize that you were such a Cardinals fan. You're so excited."

"I am excited, but I am more thankful that my parents got to see this. They have been waiting for so long for this World Series win," I replied.

For 23 years, my parents have shared season tickets with another couple. For 23 years they have gone to games. My sisters and I grew up watching the Cardinals, listening to them (KMOX came in while we vacationed in Canada one summer), and going to Busch to see them play. Our parents are the biggest Cardinals fans that I know. They stay to the end of every game, win or lose, and while I'm excited for the players, Tony LaRussa, and our city, I am most excited for my parents.

Congratulations, Mom and Dad! You've waited so long for this! WOOOO!

p.s. In true Hoyne fashion, all of the Cardinals games/events have been documented well. I'll try to upload some of their photos soon. : )
