1st Haircut

Last Sunday, while Isaac was intently watching his new favorite movie, Shrek, a bittersweet event occurred. After months of nagging from various members of our families, I gave Isaac his first haircut:

I'm sure most mothers understand the emotional battle that I was fighting in my head with each snip of the scissors. But, I was trimming his hair for the first time on my terms, not nine months ago, when the haircut campaign originated.

And the change isn't that dramatic, though his locks do look tidier than the gentle curls that were forming.

My feeling at the moment, however, is that tidy hair doesn't necessarily mean it's better...

Am I already too nostalgic? It's hair. It'll grow back, right?

Karen, it is only hair, but I saved a lock from John's first haircut. If he reads this, he'll probably say, Oh, my Mom!, but of course it is a rite of passage. He looks adorable no matter what his hair looks like, and it does look good! Have a great Labor Day weekend. Sandy & John

LYNNE:

Yes, your son's hair will grow back but I know exactly how you felt. I understand. Many were calling Jeff a girl due to me taking so long to get his pretty hair cut. I not only kept my kids hair from first cuts............(are you ready for this???) I have their baby teeth and unbilical cords. I also have a collection of signed casts from their fractured limbs.
Do you think the men in the white coats will come get me after readinhg this? LOL
You did a nice job, Isaac's hair looks fine. He's beautiful in both pics. This is just another part of motherhood.

Mom:

He's our baby, and he is cute with or without a haircut(as far as I am concerned!). He does look more like a little boy, and he is growing up whether we like it or not! I guess that is just part of it! Papa told him not to grow, but does he listen??????????haha
