March 2006 Archives

Photos from Early March

Busy has a new meaning around our house. Our schedule is pretty much booked solid, and has been for about a month or so.

My poor neglected blog reflects this full schedule. There hasn't been enough extra time to fit it in. It makes me sad, because I love blogging.

In an attempt to start squeezing in blog time, here are a few photos:

Here is my niece, Caylee (7 months), right before bath time at Nana & Papa's house. (Her chunky baby fat rolls are so pinchable! I love them!!):

And (post Sara's family bridal shower) here is Reese in Passé and Gig, Sara, and I in Passé:

(Can you tell that we had a little extra sugar in our systems from the Bridal Shower?! Kristin - we miss you! We can't wait to see you this weekend!)

Humbled

I'm officially 1 week post-surgery. I had two procedures last Tuesday to correct some stuff that happened during Isaac's delivery. The nurses gave me a 4-6 week recovery time, but I predict it'll be much shorter than that.

I'm working from home right now and trying to adhere to the rules: no lifting over 10 lbs, no more than 1 trip up and down the stairs per day, etc. It's hard to follow rules that go against your normal habits.

The flowers, kind words, emails, calls, and cards given to me have been overwhelming. I did not expect any of these things at all and I am increasingly flattered each day. Wow. Thank you all very much. You're so nice to me. I am so lucky to have such awesome family and friends.

I think part of my blog silence recently can be attributed to my apprehension for this surgery. Now that it's over with, I can catch you all up on the latest around here. (AND I owe a few people Birthday Blogs, congrats, etc.)

To hold you over until my next entry, here's our Oreo eater with a mouthful:

More soon... stay tuned.

Cheese!!

He's not consistently doing it, but sometimes Isaac makes this crazy smile for the camera:

I can't help but crack up every time he does it. : ) (I also feel somewhat guilty that my 16 month-old is learning how to pose for a camera. I guess that's what happens when you have a shutterbug of a Mommy.)

Monkey Shines

Okay, I admit it. Sometimes I still make monkey shines at myself in the mirror. I can't help it. It's funny, it's silly, and it makes me break out of taking life so seriously.

My sisters and I shared a bathroom growing up and one of my favorite rituals was making monkey shines at Kristin while we brushed our teeth before bed.

About a month ago, while Isaac and I were at my parents' house, my Dad was carrying Isaac around in the backpack carrier and I caught them... My Dad was in the bathroom with Isaac teaching him to make monkey shines!!

My Dad would stand up straight and tall in the mirror and say, "where's Isaac? Where is he..." Isaac would sit very still behind my dad until he said, "There he is!" and he'd pop out from behind my Dad to look at himself in the mirror and make monkey shines!

Here is the fun photo series (click on the photos below):

(Thanks for hanging out with us tonight, Dad. It was fun and a big help.)

(AND, props to Bryan for braving Shop 'N Save on the $10 coupon night! You're an all-around rock star of a Daddy.)

More Funny Faces

While working on another family project, ("through the years" photo boards for Sara & Ryan's upcoming wedding) Sara, my parents, and I found more proof of our family's love for monkey shines.

Here, my dad has Sara (approx. 12 months) in the backpack carrier and I'm in the front (out of focus) making her laugh:

And here is Sara, Kristin, and I on our parents back porch (after the Fun Fair?) with painted faces:

Special things to note:
1. That's the same backpack carrier that my dad uses to carry his grandbabies in. (see Monkey Shines post)

2. I think my mom still has that hanging fern.

3. Note the old pool and swingset in the back yard. (Every time I see that pool I think about the time Dad threw Angie in it in her clothes. haha.)
