Sara pointed out to me that today is World Blog Day. The theory behind World Blog Day is to link to five different blogs.
Here are five of my favorite blogs:
www.boingboing.net:
Boing Boing is my favorite place to get quirky news. Their tag line is "A Directory of Wonderful Things", and that it is. You'll just have to see it for yourself. There isn't one good explanation for Boing Boing.
www.mightygirl.net:
I came across this site randomly and I haven't been able to stop reading it. This is the blog of Maggie Mason and there's something addicting to her writing style and perspective. I'm continuously surprised and intrigued by her entries. Great writer with great humor and her husband's name is coincidentally Bryan!
www.engadget.com:
I don't get to check Engadget as often as I'd like, but they post some great tech news about new products and technology. It's a neato site for people who have similar technology interests as I do.
The next three blogs are blogs that I LOVED that have been neglected. Their authors, for some reason or another, decided to stop posting or haven't posted in a while. I would love it if my little blog would encourage them to start posting again, though I know all three are very busy:
www.jumpingmonkeys.com: This is the blog of Megan Morrone. She recently had twin boys. Her perspective on parenting and motherhood is wonderful and funny. Megan used to work for TechTV and now is a freelance writer.
www.dollarshort.org: This is the blog of Mena Trott. She and her husband designed and programmed the blogging software that I use on my blog and now they run a very good blogging system called TypePad.
www.tenyearsofmylife.com: This is a photo essay blog of Matthew Haughey. His wife recently had a baby girl and he started writing for the NY Times. He runs a number of other blogs about technology.
Here are a few other sites that I wouldn't necessarily categorize as blogs, but more as bookmark sites. They are running lists of interesting URLs. Worth a glance by most:
www.digg.com
del.icio.us
www.waxy.org/links
Okay, so that was more than 5 sites... I couldn't help it. Enjoy. : )
Yay for World Blog Day! : )
