Weeks 10-25

August 10, 2004

Difficulties

I just discovered that I can't pick things up off of the floor anymore...

My pregnant belly doesn't allow me to bend in the ways that I used to be able to bend. : ) It's funny and frustrating all at the same time.

Bryan made fun of me the other night because he had to help me put on and tie my tennis shoes.

I expected this, but not this soon... I'm only at 26 weeks!

Meanwhile, the baby is giving me better posture also. It's becoming increasingly hard to slouch when I sit. : )

This baby is better for my health than I ever expected him to be! : )

And We Were Worried

Our dog, Harley, is a drama queen. She thrives on routine and doesn't like change much at all. In fact, when there is a sudden change, she doesn't eat and mopes around.

With the recent move to Bryan's parents' basement, we were worried about her adjusting to her new environment. I think living with people that she knows and her doggie-cousin, Max, has made the transition much easier.

I caught this photo of her on Friday evening... I think she's adjusting just fine:

Meanwhile, I wonder how she's going to react to a brand new house and baby in a couple of months. I'll keep you posted. : )

Not Just Surprised, SHOCKED!

It's not the most flattering photo, but here's proof of my surprise at a surprise baby shower that my sisters (Angie, Kristin, and Sara) and Sarah threw for me this past Saturday:

Here are some other photos from this past weekend (click to see bigger versions):

Thank you to all of the people who came to my shower... it made me feel so very special to see you there! (And a special thank you to those of you who traveled distances to be there - Kristin, Gig, John, Reese, Krista, & Lauren.)

We received a lot of very nice presents! I can't wait to put them to good use! : )

Thank you Gig, Kiss, Sar, and Sarah for the WONDERFUL surprise! I will never forget it! : )

Baby Arnold Baby Pool

It has begun! : ) So far, the pot is up to $15.00!!

Do you want in on the fun? Here are the rules:
     1. $1.00 = 1 day

     2. Reserve as many days as you want

     3. If more than one person signs up for a day and Baby Boy Arnold is born on that day, the people will split the pot.

     4. If the Baby is born on a day that hasn't been reserved by anyone, the person/people with the closest guess will win the pot. (12-o'clock noon being the dividing line between the day before and the day after)

     5. If you reserve a day, but do not put your money in the pot before the baby is born, you are not eligible to win. This pool is pre-pay only.

Important days to consider?
     - October 7th - Bryan's Birthday
     - October 20th - Caron's Birthday
     - October 31st - Halloween
     - November 9th - Bryan and Caron's 2 year anniversary
     - November 11th - Baby Boy Arnold's Due Date
     - November 25th - Thanksgiving

Email me at caron [at] caronarnold.com with your lucky date(s) and I'll mark you down. : )

Two Momentous Events

Two momentous events happened yesterday...

1. My little brother (my next door neighbor growing up - no blood relation, but practically my little bro) got married to his beautiful bride, Jennie. : )

Here is a photo from their ceremony:

And we all found out that my niece, Reese, is a dancing queen:

2. The Hoynes got a new TV!!!! Holy cow! I thought this day would never come! My parents' poor old television was on its last leg! For years now, it's been dying, slowly fading the picture to black, and losing all picture quality. (At times, as my little sister Sara describes it, "it looks like peoples' faces are on fire!")

In true Hoyne tradition, I made them pose next to their new TV:

Mom, Dad, I hope you enjoy your new TV for a long time; through many March Madnesses, Weather Channel marathons, and many more Olympics... Or at least until all of the "peoples' faces are on fire" again. HAHA. : )

16 Inches from Butt to Bellybutton

We went to our new house on Sunday to see the progress and to take some photos.

We've been taking periodic profile shots of me in the framing of our walls and I'm now officially 16 inches from butt to bellybutton:

We stopped by again on the way home from work tonight and peered in the windows. (They've started locking up the house, so we can't freely walk through it anymore.) We still have no siding or brick, but today, we saw drywall being hung! YAY!

It's a good thing that they've started putting up drywall because I still have two months to go and I won't soon fit into 16 inch framing! : )

Oh, by the way, the baby pool is up to $39.00!! Email me at caron [at] caronarnold.com if you still want in on the fun! The cut-off date is October 1st!
