Awaiting Advisory

So, here I am waiting for my appointment with my (temporary?) advisor, my art history professor, Jeff. He's a pretty cool guy. My regular advisor, Tom, is on sabbatical (however you spell that).

I can't help but think about my path to get here and how excited and happy I feel when I'm at school. It's a totally different experience than before.

I really hate that I can only afford the time to take two classes, but I just need to be patient and see what happens next. Maybe someday I'll be able to return to school full time... Who knows? : )

Bryan is home sick today and his little bro, Nick, is also home sick. Nick went home from work yesterday. So, today I am the only Arnold at work. It's quiet in the hallway, although I wouldn't consider either of them to be loud workers. I guess I'm just used to a little more activity around the office.

Well, it's about time for my appointment...

Get well soon, Arnold boys. : )

Memories from a Year Ago

*sigh*... To think this time last year, Bryan and I were sitting on a boat in the sun awaiting our full week of honeymoon adventure in the Caribbean! I wish I was there right now... Maybe I'll make a pact with Bryan that every anniversary from now on, we have to spend on a vacation... that would be nice! : )

To the left and right, you can see a couple of photos that we took with Bryan's phone when we first boarded the boat and me saluting on the top deck.

Nevertheless, this weekend was fun. On Thursday night, after all of our shows, we went to see 'The Matrix'! We were going to see it on the weekend, but we couldn't wait! : )

Friday night, we made an awesome dinner and we also drank our first bottle of wine. The wine was a wedding present from my sisters. Each of the 12 bottles of red wine are all assigned to specific anniversaries... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50. It was very good and we can only expect for it to get better through the years! : ) We also looked at our wedding photos from last year.

On Saturday night, we went to Modesto for dinner! All I can say is mmmmmmmmm... when I'm there. : )

Then, yesterday, on our actual anniversary, we did house work. Bryan worked on the yard and the mass of leaves that had collected out there and I cleaned the inside of the house and conquered laundry.

Exciting stuff on our anniversary, eh? : ) But, we did put up some new shelves in our Kitchen, which we've been wanting to do for a while. To the left of the shelves we finally hung one of our souvenirs from our honeymoon. It's a signed and numbered print from an art auction that we went to on our cruise.

All weekend long, we kept saying, "this time last year, we were..." And then, today came and we realized that we were on a cruise a year ago today and we would both love to be there again right now. : (

Meanwhile, I'm going to write down a to-do in my PDA to schedule a vacation!

p.s. YAY for the Rams and KC! : )

Key West Adventures...

This time last year, Bryan and I began exploring Key West on our first stop on our honeymoon cruise.

It was so fun. We didn't sign up for any organized activity at this stop, so instead, we explored on our own:
- We started walking down one of the main streets and found Ernest Hemingway's house. The tour was expensive, so instead we took a picture in front of it. : )

- Then, we walked to a lighthouse and climbed it all the way to the top where you could see for miles around! (I remember being very proud of Bryan because he was scared to death of the height of that thing.) : )

- We walked a few more blocks to the 'Southern Most Point' of the United States. It was pretty cool, although the actual southern most point was to the west of the big buoy tourist marker. We could have snuck around to walk down there, but since it was on a U.S. Naval base, it wouldn't have been a good idea. : )

- Then, we walked back on another one of the main streets and ate lunch at a cute little restaurant/bar and made friends with the lesbian bar tender. She told us a bit more about the city and the festivals that happen there. She was cool and gave us each a free beer.

- We walked all the way back to the port and I spotted an ice cream parlor and got dessert before boarding again. (This was before I knew about the 'Ice Cream at 4 o-clock everyday' on the ship, which I took advantage of quite a bit.) : )

You know what else happened today... Since we were officially in the U.S. still, Bryan checked his phone to see if he had service, kind of as a joke, but he did! We received an email from my parents on his phone, with a wedding photo attached. That was super cool to see, as by then it seemed that our wedding had happened longer than two days ago.

*sigh*... at least I haven't forgotten how awesome it was. Just thinking about wearing shorts and sandals in November is fun. : )

I wish we were there right now.

It's Registration Day!

This morning I registered for my spring college semester at Webster.

The end result is good, because I got into both of the classes that I wanted, but it took me forever to find 'the new' registrar's office! Why does it always seem like there's some kind of new procedure every time I register? Oh, well. DONE! That's all that matters now.

So, I'm taking two classes, both on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From 12-12:50, I'll have Introduction to Art History and from 1-2:50, I'll have Creative Strategies. Both of these classes are Freshman level and both are required. Hopefully, I'll be able to just breeze right through them! : )

Spring semester starts Jan. 12... I'm sure it will be here before I know it. Meanwhile, I still have 5.5 more weeks to finish the fall semester... I can hardly believe that I've been in class for 10.5 weeks already!

(P.S. This time last year, we were on a boat in the Caribbean headed toward Costa Maya...) I need a vacation.

Growing Up

I received an email from my parents this morning with a link to view the engagement photos of John & Jennie.

John is like my little brother. He was our next door neighbor growing up and he is two years younger than me. Recently he fell in love and got engaged to Jennie. Looking at their engagement photos this morning made me want to cry. They are so happy and I can't believe that my little bro is getting married! : )

I guess we are really growing up...

Here are some of my favorite shots from the website:

These are awesome photos!

(If you couldn't guess or don't know John, he's a paramedic firefighter. Hence, the fire truck (pumper) in the background of some photos.)

The Betts family is coming in town this weekend! : ) I can't wait to see them!

This time last year, we were docked at Cozumel, Mexico enjoying ourselves at the beach. I wish I could have a tan again for Thanksgiving.

IT'S FRIDAY, though! Holla! : )

p.s. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I have! : )

Sad news...

I just found out that Jonathan Brandis died Last Wednesday, November 12th, from suicide:
www.eonline.com

www.stltoday.com

www.minorcon.org (an organization to help child actors)

'The Year That Trembled' (a film that he recently starred in)

I'm not quite sure why this is so sad to me. I did have a major crush on him in 8th & 9th grade. (Such a big crush that I begged my dad take my friend and I to a car show downtown STL because he was going to be there signing autographs. Thanks, Dad.)

I guess it's just sad to me because he was one of the first boys to capture my heart.

I think I'd feel the same way if one of the New Kids on the Block were to pass away, too... As silly as that sounds.

He was 27 years old. Very sad.

I wonder if I still have his autograph and photos from that car show...

Waiting

Well, here I am in my doctor's waiting room for my yearly visit. I'm waiting for my appointment that was scheduled for fifteen minutes ago. Oh, well.

Why do doctor's appointments always run late? I always have to remind myself to just be patient and happy that I'm here for a healthy visit and not a sick one.

I am super excited for Thanksgiving!! More than usual. I think part of the reason that I might be more excited than normal is because I get two days off of work and school! Yay!

Tonight I'm going to make cookies for Thanksgiving. I baked cookies last year and they were yummy! This year, Bryan requested cookies with M&M's in them. (I need to find a recipe...)

They just called me. Bye.

current art

I'm sitting in class waiting for it to begin. It never fails that this class starts five to ten minutes late every time.

So, if I don't get to tell you tomorrow, have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Here's my professor... Bye.
