I feel like a wet dog

On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have Principals of Drawing (aka, Drawing II) at Webster University. I work full time, so the time that I miss at work, needs to be made up in the evenings or over the weekend. This class starts at 10 and goes to 11:50, so I usually miss about three hours of work with the commute.

Today it is raining. The traffic sucks. I get to class 5 minutes late, soaking wet and no one is there. There is a sign that says, "Principals of Drawing is cancelled for Tuesday, Sept. 2nd."

Crap.

So, I'm back at work, still wet from walking to and from class and I've wasted my lunch hour. At least I don't have to make up any missed time for today, but it just plain sucks.

I hope the rain didn't ruin the art in my portfolio.

And now, it's a worse hair day...

'But that's okay, Tomorrow's gonna be another day, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey.'

At least I can remember some fun times that we had at the Winery on Sunday for my Mom's birthday. : )

Thanks for a fun weekend, fam! : ) Love you! xo

Sleepy Monday

I'm going to have to get used to working on Saturdays. On one hand, it's nice because it's really quiet at work and I can get a lot done. On the other hand, I lose track of time and forget that it is still Saturday and that I don't have to work the whole day. (I also forgot lunch.)

So, today I'm sleepy.

Saturday night we went to a restaurant named Giuseppe's Restaurant. It was really good and reasonably priced! The husband of a friend of mine, that I teach with at the dance studio, and her brother-in-law just bought the establishment. I highly recommend it. The service was fantastic and the food was GREAT!

After dinner we went to see The Lion King at The Fox Theatre. The tickets were an early anniversary present from my parents. (Thanks, Mom and Dad! xo) It was really spectacular. The costumes/puppets are amazing and the sets were simple, but cool. It was great. : )

Sunday... cleaning, laundry, and the rams lost. : (

Monday, today, back to work and back to school. At least I won't have to cook tonight... Our dog, Harley, is cooking dinner for us... in the crock pot. : ) Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce is one of my favorites! I found the recipe online from www.allrecipes.com. This website is great! You can search by meal or by method or by ingredients and people submit their recipes and you can go in and rate the recipe... It's just awesome. My favorite feature is that you can print out the recipe in card format for your recipe box! : ) Now, that's a useful website!

All for now... Hope your Monday is a good one! : )

Be a Legal Bear

John Mayer : Heavier ThingsI am inspired to write this afternoon based on an email conversation with my little sister, Sara.

After telling her that Bryan bought the new John Mayer cd for $10 at Circuit City, she asked me to burn it for her.

Burn it? It's TEN BUCKS! Buy it!

Now, I know you're asking yourself, "why would Caron care about that?" I'll tell you why:

1. Universal lowered their cd prices this week in an effort to encourage people to buy cds instead of downloading them.

2. I like John Mayer and I'd like to encourage others to support him and his music.

3. It's seriously ten dollars.

4. John Mayer owns an ipod. (An Ipod is a MP3 player.) Owning a MP3 player, usually means that you've downloaded music. I think that John Mayer probably agrees with the 60 million file share-ers out there, that music is too expensive, and wants to make his music more affordable for all of us! YAY! : )

To that, I say, "LEAD THE INDUSTRY, JOHN!"

Okay, I'm off of my soapbox now. I've got to rip this cd to my MP3 player. : )

Good Times

Last night Bryan and I met up with Van and Amy and went to Ameristar Casino to visit with some friends, Karen & Alex Gioia, who worked there and gamble $20 a piece.

Who was playing at the club where our friends worked, but Paul Revere and the Raiders! HA HA! They were really good! (And they played a couple of Monkees tunes... that's always a plus!) I had no idea that it was a comedy routine with musical interludes... It was a good show! : )

After the concert we went to the casinos where I won $65 off of $10!! YAY! : ) Good times!

With the winner's high, we got our second winds and decided to meet our friends, Karen & Alex, for a drink down the road at a bar called Trailhead. It's a micro-brewery and a bar/restaurant. It was fun and Bryan and Alex gabbed like little girls. : )

Today, I'm at work but I'm looking forward to the free concert tonight! It's an Anheuser-Busch employee appreciation "Fun Fest" at Riverport. (Bryan's parents didn't want to go.) Guess who they got to play... Smashmouth and Tim McGraw! (You know, Smashmouth sounds affordable, but Tim McGraw?!? That's a pretty penny!) And beer, food, and music is all free! YAY! : )

Hope you're weekends are all fun filled! : )

p.s. The Rams season home opener is tomorrow against the 49ers! GO RAMS!

RAMS WIN IN OVERTIME!!

I was cheering in my living room yesterday like a mad fool! : )

The game was so intense, you would have thought it was the playoffs or something:

One loss, one win... Not too shabby... : )

Bye, Bye Dial up! : )

ARNOLD HAS BROADBAND! Holla!! : )

Bryan and I just got Charter Pipeline last week, so I've cancelled Earthlink.

As of 09-24-03 at Midnight, caronhoyne@earthlink.net and caronarnold@earthlink.net will no longer be accessable.

Please email me at caron [at] caronarnold.com.

Meanwhile, I'm so happy I don't have to listen to that crazy dial-up sound anymore! YAY!) : )

Now if SBC could just expand south... DSL would be a possibility. (and cheaper than pipeline!)

Finally Thursday!

This week has been slow.

Maybe it's because I've been looking forward to the start of Survivor tonight! : )

Or maybe because I bought Bryan a new mobile phone for his birthday, so I finally get to inherit the Danger! : ) (aka "T-Mobile Sidekick")

It could also be a slow week because all of the art geeks at Webster are looking forward to the Grand Opening of the new Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis on Saturday, 9/20/03.

Pimp JuiceA few cool things were introduced recently:
     • The Aquada

It's a car! It's a boat! It's $250,000!?!?!

     • Pimp Juice
This is the new energy drink from Nelly. Yes, Nelly, the rapper from STL. (also information on: www.letitloose.com)

     • UX50 Clié from Sony
It's a cool PDA concept, but #1, it's $700.00! You could buy a laptop for that price. And #2, it's not getting great reviews.

Well, whatever way you look at it, tomorrow is finally FRIDAY!

YAY! : )

September 20, 2003

It's Saturday and I'm at work

You know, it's not so bad working on Saturday. The office is quiet and I get a lot done! : )

I'll be here until about 3PM today.

The Rams play at Seattle tomorrow at 3:05!! : )

I hope your weekend is great! GO RAMS! : )

Monarch Butterflies

I just saw 6 Monarch butterflies flying around outside...

I wonder what that means? I'll do a search...

Oh, they're migrating! Cool! : )

(I love Google!)

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

My birthday is one month away from today!!!!!!! : )

Autumnal Equinox

an egg on it's endThis morning I woke up and heard Glenn Zimmerman of Fox 2 News in the Morning (KTVI) say that today is the Autumnal Equinox.

I told Bryan that you can stand an egg on its end today. (We used to do this all of the time when I was in elementary school. My mom, dad, sisters and I would usually succeed during breakfast before we went to school.) : )

Well, Bryan and I tried a few times this morning and it didn't work... Bryan said, "I don't believe you." : )

So, I turn to the internet to find the proof, only to find out that it's a fable:
     • "Do Eggs Stand on End"

     • “Bad Astronomy: The Egg and the Equinox”

So, that's disappointing, but I foresee a challenge! We should try to stand an egg on it's end at Christmas or something and prove it.

I did also find some interesting Egg Trivia! (I know you're enthused!) : )

In other news, Galileo crashed into Jupiter, ending it's 14 year mission. Here are some COOL PHOTOS from Galileo:

Dave Matthews : Some DevilDave Matthews releases a solo album today! : ) It is on sale at Circuit City for $10!!

I love this inexpensive music trend! : )

Peace in yo hoods.

Hairy Links

funny guyI'm not sure why, but recently I've randomly happened across some funny (and hairy) links:

World Beard and Moustache Championships
Apparently, this event is taking place in Nevada this year on November 1st. I bet it's a funny place to people watch. I wonder if they have people grooming them like they do at dog shows. HA HA! : )

Beard Contest 2003
This is a random contest held online to determine who can grow the longest beard from August 2nd to December 20th. Interesting. These people upload photos of their progress periodically. It's somewhat entertaining.

Enjoy?

Lies & Fish

I was up until 2 AM yesterday writing a critical review of an article that was very frustrating. This author used the most obscure words and never ending run-on sentences.

I did find a funny review of her work online, which made me feel a lot better about my frustrations:
"This author's writing is extremely wordy and very hard to grasp. You'll inevitably spend more time looking up her obscure vocabulary than actual reading. I found her writing hard to comprehend even after reading chapters multiple times. Her sentences are incredibly redundant and very hard to understand..."

Seriously, what is the point of writing like that?! I had to read it three times to fully understand what the hell she was writing about. It was rediculous, but the paper is done and turned in, so bye, bye, crazy art author lady! : )

While I was walking to class today, I noticed a trash can with the words "Certified Art" printed on it! HAHAH! Now, that is a laugh that I needed. I had to stop and take a photo of it for my Moblog...

That reminds me... Bryan and I went to Petco in Arnold the other day to get Harley some dog food and half of the sign wasn't lit up. It read, "Petco Lies & Fish". HAHA! : )

Bryan and I immediately started making jokes about it:
"Because I never want the truth with my fish!"
"At least they're ironically honest and upfront about lying to people."
"Is this a fish?" "No it's a dog with scales that swims."

Maybe it was funnier to us at the time... : )

May you have many lies with your fish.
